English at Banks Road

WoW – Writing on the Wall Project in Years 5 and 6.

Pupils are now working on their final drafts, editing their unique Superhero characters, story lines and plots.

The completed comic strips stories  will be published in a Banks Road Superhero book.

Once they are printed, every class will be able to read these wonderfully exciting stories.

We want all of our pupils to develop a love of reading that stays with them into adulthood.

During the Autumn term, we were visited by authors, Billy Bob Buttons, Stuart Reid, Jude Lennon and our own Mr Millea.

‘Story Barn’ also visited each class to help bring stories and books to life through storytelling and drama.

Book Fair

There was lots of excitement when children and their families visited our Book Fair at school recently.

Here is the power point presentation parents and carers were shown at our Reading Morning, to explain about all the different types of reading their child takes part in at school and at home…

Reading Mornings

The children and their parents/carers took part in a ‘Books for Breakfast’ morning.  All of the children were able to take home a book.  They later visited Speke Retail Park where they were treated to a ‘behind the scenes’ look at B&Q and W. H. Smith.

Parents and carers were invited to our Reading Morning this term, so they could see for themselves, how reading is taught at our school. Parent visited classrooms and took part in a wide range of reading activities with their children.
