At Banks Road the teaching of R.E. encourages pupils to develop positive attitudes to their learning and to the beliefs and values of others.
We want our pupils to be ready to learn in R.E lessons by developing the following key attitudes:
- self awareness
- respect for all
- open mindedness
- appreciation and wonder
Across all Key Stages pupils learn about the role of religion in the modern world and the important beliefs and values that shape it.
Teaching takes place mainly through the exploration of:
- stories
- celebrations
- traditions
- religious symbols
- worship
- religious beliefs
Pupils will take part in activities which involve :
- comparing similarities and differences between and within world religions
- using specialist vocabulary
- interpreting information
- pondering ethical question
Visiting Places of Worship in the Community.
Pupils from Year 4 visited the Princes Road Synagogue.
Our Year 3 classes visited the Al Rahma Masjid Mosque near the city centre.
Year 2 pupils visited Bridge Chapel to learn more about the Christmas story through a series of workshops.
